Superintendent's Message

Dear Spencerville Community,                                                                                                   August 9, 2022

Students, Parents, Staff and Community Members: Welcome to the 2022-2023 school year!  We have learned a lot over the last two years as we dealt with the many changes and challenges due to the Pandemic.  However, we are heading into a more normal school year with little-to-no restrictions.  This progress is exciting for our students and staff who are here to learn and grow together as one school, one community, one purpose (school vision statement).

We welcome several new staff: Bus Mechanic: Lee Erickson, Vo-Ag Teachers: Grace Dicke and Logan Heiby, Family Consumer Science Teacher: Karri Purdy, Kindergarten Teacher: Suzanne Lyons, 3rd Grade Teacher: Josh Buerger, and 4th Grade Teacher: John Zerbe.  We are grateful to have this group of new staff join our Bearcat Family!

We are continuing to work through our transportation needs and have made some gains over the summer.  We have increased our staffing for van and bus driver substitutes.  We will also be filling our vacant bus driver position as soon as all the requirements have been met.  This will keep us in good standing for providing regular transportation for the duration of the school year.  Also, we are appreciative of the drivers who provided transportation throughout the summer for our summer school program and sporting events!  If you are interested in learning how you can become a licensed bus driver, please call our Transportation office at 419-647-4111, ext. 3166.

All classrooms are now equipped with a NEW Interactive Flat Panel.  Each device is 75” and has been mounted on the wall on a track system, replacing the old screen/projector units.  These “high tech” devices will be heavily used for instructional learning and have been proven to increase student engagement.  Thank you to our Technology and Maintenance Departments for managing and assisting with the installation of these machines.  All 65 devices were purchased with ARP ESSER Grant funds.

I hope to see everyone at the Back to School Fair on August 24th.  This event is a wonderful way for families to not only meet their child's teachers, but to connect more with the school.  ALL staff will be in attendance.  You can meet your bus driver, cooks, custodians, library staff, secretaries, etc.  You will learn more about school and community programs and even learn how you can become more involved in the school.  Let’s all continue to work together in support of our students, staff and community!

Sincerely,

Cindy Endsley, Superintendent
